Out of This World! Roswell New Mexico April 2024

I'm thrilled to be staying in Roswell! It's a fascinating and welcoming place, with lots of references to aliens. Plus, there's a McDonald designed like a spaceship!

I arrived in Roswell, New Mexico last Thursday and found BLM campsites about 12 minutes away from town. The site I stayed at had beautiful views and was located across from the Bottomless Lake State Park.

I am currently in my third week, and things are going smoothly. I have plenty of spare time to invest in my daily tasks. It is necessary to check my power station levels, charge equipment as needed, and check wastewater levels and empty them. It's definitely a good habit to have. I also monitor water and propane.

I have also been riding my gravel bike and practicing yoga regularly. I have really enjoyed the blogging. This has allowed me to journal and create something special for myself.

I get to witness the fire-colored sunset every evening, and I always catch the sunrise every morning. The evening brings a view of Roswell that t
hrough my windshield, it feels like I am on a spaceship.

I plan to add a morning meditation next week. Additionally, I am relishing spending more time with my pets. We have really bonded and it has been wonderful watching them enjoy their new lives on the road and the freedom to be dogs and cats.
So much less stress for them too.

I purged again items that are more in the way and things I see are not necessary. I donate the items I don't need. I have reorganized things as I am learning how to live in "Van6ie".

The weather in Roswell has been in the 80's and the mornings are much warmer than last week, this is so nice. I can now go outside in the morning in just my pj's. I am not a fan of the cold, but after many nights camping to snowboard the next day you have to adjust your attitude towards the cold. I try to embrace it like a cold plunge.

So, I had this crazy goal for my trip to Roswell - to take a provocative photo in front of the Roswell Welcome sign! I even had a cute swimsuit to fit the occasion. The plan was to put on my " we cum in peace" bikini, lean out of the van with the sign in the background, and voila - mission accomplished! I mean, who wouldn't want a photo like that?! It was so much fun and the photos turned out hilarious. I feel like I'm living life to the fullest with these wacky adventures.

Other side notes:

We had the police called on us, the neighbors thought we were homeless living in the frisbee golf park.

I am caravanning with a friend from my Colorado Vanlife group, her name is Missy. It's been nice having a travel buddy. She is very kind and easygoing.  She has a cat named Jake. Kanye and Jake have become friendly. We have been having a lot of fun!

I hope this message inspires you to pursue something you've always wanted to do. Thank you for taking the time to check in on us.

We appreciate you!

The making of Vangie. The story of a dream come true!

Let me tell you about the adventure of a lifetime! It all started with a dream, you know, the kind that you think is meant for someone else to do, someone who is brave and adventurous. But then I had an idea, I wrote it down, and before I knew it, I was planning my very own epic adventure.

I decided to buy a van and travel around the country, living the van life and camping wherever my heart desired. And let me tell you, the thought of wild camping and exploring new places had my heart racing with excitement

So, in May of 2023, I purchased a 2019 Ram Promaster. I spent that summer building it out, with the help of a friend, and by the end of August, Vangie (my new van, affectionately named by my friend) was ready to hit the road for her first camping trip. And boy, was it a trip to remember!

I spent several weekends and nights in front of my house, plus six whole days in New Mexico, getting to know my rig and all of her quirks. I made several adjustments to Vangie, including adding more insulation, a larger battery, and a heating and A/C unit. I even added a bug screen, a propane tank bracket, and an awning for those hot summer days.

And the best part? I can store my SUP, snowboard, and gravel bike in a garage under my bed. Plus, Vangie has a heated floor and is equipped with solar power and an inverter for powering two solar generators with 2000wh.

So there you have it, folks - my epic adventure for getting ready to live on the road in Vangie. It's been a wild ride, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!  Stay tuned!

Sincere thanks to Michael, my best friend. I cannot express my gratitude enough for your unwavering support and assistance in making my
dream come true.
